St. Patrick's Day is subsequent Thursday, but the festivities really kick off on Saturday, with the annual Tub Blarney Times parade. Only in its 3rd yr, Blarney Days has turn out to be a bona fide event for the City of Ships. The parade begins at 11:00 a.m., rolling via the heart of downtown with a the usual marching bands and hearth vehicles complemented by pipe bands for the vacation. Unique to the Tub parade are the Pub Scouts, a kazoo band with headquarters at Byrnes Irish Pub. Things will get loud insida, as the Maine Community Security Pipe & Drum Corps will entertain during the afternoon.
Goldsmiths students have a pretty good choice of places to go down in New Cross. London's most stylish college students hit the Amersham Arms for gigs and club nights. Verify out SKIPtheatre, it's a night of Live Music and theatrical performances from women who love to skip, sounds quite weird but it's very awesome. There are good gigs at the New Cross Inn and the Goldsmiths Student Union host some great evenings too with very inexpensive drinks on offer.
